We are one week closer to making history and delivering the world's first social Enterprise Application Market. We've made a number of improvements this week. Here are some highlights....
Crash test dummies...
Ever wonder about those people who have thousands of "friends" on facebook? Well, now, you can too in the developer community. Take a look around and you'll see lots of new people you can follow. We've added, a number of sample users, test groups, and dummy data. You'll be able to tell a "dummy" user by the ID. Take a look at Vilma Slunder. There are also a number of social groups, projects, etc. Please feel free to follow these people, add content to the groups, etc.. One of the reasons we put this out there is so that you can test your app with users that have a large number of followers and complex social graphs. We are always looking for more ideas on how to improve this so, if you've got any other suggestions, let us know. (And don't forget to give Craig McClanahan a shout out because he was instrumental in getting this done!)
"Slow down, you move too fast..."
In keeping with the musical theme this week is Simon & Garfunkle's "59th Street Bridge Song". I can't think of a better way to introduce the throttling mechanism that's built into the API. Ed Venaglia has done a great job of putting some documentation together that explains how this all works. Be sure to check out the App Throttling - Configuration and Mechanics if your app is making repeated calls to Jive or your home server.
"It's better to look good, than to feel good"
This is another reminder to check out the App Developer UI Guidelines & Best Practices. We've made another pass at them this week to add more precision and guidelines around the preferred height for your application.
Until next time--Keep Building Apps!
